How Moradok Law came to be
Moradok Law was established with a straightforward conviction: that families navigating wills, estates, and inheritance deserve legal support that is careful, unhurried, and free of unnecessary complexity. The word moradok (มรดก) means inheritance in Thai — and it is the whole of what we do.
Our founders spent years in larger legal practices and noticed a recurring gap: clients dealing with sensitive family matters were often rushed through processes that warranted more time, and given explanations that assumed more background knowledge than most people reasonably have. Moradok Law was set up specifically to address that.
Situated in the Yaowarat area of Bangkok, we serve Thai nationals, expatriates residing in Thailand, and families with assets or members across borders. Our work is focused — we do not attempt to cover every area of law. That concentration allows us to offer a depth of familiarity with inheritance and estate practice that a general firm cannot match.

About Our Practice
Inheritance and estate law in Thailand — what we know and what that means for you
Thai inheritance law is governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, Books V and VI. These provisions set out who may inherit, in what order, and how an estate passes when there is no valid will or when disputes arise between heirs. The rules are nuanced and do not always align with expectations shaped by other legal systems.
For families where one or more members are foreign nationals, or where assets are held in different countries, there are additional layers to consider. Thai courts have jurisdiction over assets located in Thailand, but coordinating with foreign legal systems requires familiarity with both frameworks. This is a regular part of our work at Moradok Law.
Will preparation in Thailand must follow specific formal requirements to be legally effective. A will that does not meet those requirements may be invalid, even if the deceased's intentions are otherwise clear. We assist clients in ensuring their documents are properly drafted and executed.
Estate administration — the process of managing and distributing an estate after a death — is often more involved than families anticipate. It may require applications to court, publication of notices, correspondence with revenue authorities, and careful documentation at each stage. We guide families through this process with sensitivity and practical support.
Where inheritance matters are disputed, either among heirs or between heirs and third parties, we are able to represent clients in seeking a resolution. Our preference is always to pursue a negotiated outcome where possible, but we are equally prepared to represent clients before the courts when that is what the situation requires.
